EFI TUNER INFORMATION AND UNITS BELOW ON THIS PAGE
PODCAST-In this episode we really try and break through the confusion on all these aftermarket motorcycle electronic fuel injection (EFI) boxes and gadgets that are for sale on the market out there. It can be awfully confusing and daunting to most, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be. We know that after you listen to this podcast episode you will feel much more comfortable with the subject and be in the know. Let us take all the confusion out of mapping the fuel injection on your motorcycle with these aftermarket products. We have actually utilized some of these products and are going to try others. We also cover when you need to remap your EFI and when it is not necessary. We discuss why there are certain times you might want to do a remap.
For some remapping your EFI it is not necessary and for others it is an exciting journey that has endless possibilities for fine tuning your motorcycle! Do you want more low end or top end power for your motorcycle? Are the prices for these motorcycle EFI tuning gadgets worth it? Should I just get the standard Harley-Davidson dealership EFI download into my Electronic Control Module (ECM)? Should I trust all these aftermarket EFI tuners? Are some motorcycle EFI tuners better than others? What is a motorcycle auto tuner? Do all these aftermarket EFI tuners work with each other/cross platform? Can I take my EFI tuner with me when I sell my motorcycle? Do I need a laptop computer to use an EFI tuner? Do I need a smartphone or tablet to use an EFI tuner? We answer these and many other questions you may have about motorcycle electronic fuel injection (EFI) tuners and auto tuners. This topic is endless and we tried to break it down for you. We will likely have to do one or two follow up episodes on this topic, but this will get your started for certain.
There are so many motorcycle electronic motorcycle (EFI) tuners out there on the market. To break it down a bit for you we discuss Harley-Davidson’s Screaming Eagle Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) Race Tuner, the Dyno Jet Power Commander V with Auto Tuner Kit, the DynoJet Power Vision with additional Autotune Pro, and the Vance & Hines Fuel Pak 3 (FP3).

The Dyno Jet Power Commander V prices at around $379. If you want to add the additional DynoJet Auto Tuner you will spend another $399. The Power Vision prices at around $549, which comes with a basic AutoTuner that utilizes the narrow band factory oxygen sensors. For greater tuning capabilities you can spend an additional $420 for the Pro Autotune for the Power Vision, which includes a control module, two wide-band oxygen sensors, cables, and everything needed for installation. You can view real time data while riding with the Power Vision.
The Vance and Hines Fuel Pak 3 all in one solution prices at around $359. There are no wires to run up to your bars when installing. The Fuelpak 3 is very compact and talks with your smartphone via bluetooth with an awesome free app they developed. You can also see real time data as you are riding on your smartphone. We strongly suggest mounting your smartphone to your handlebars with confidence using the #1 best cell phone motorcycle mounting solution, the Biker Gripper!
Of course there is the Harley Davidson Screaming Eagle EFI tuner, but our opinion is to stay away and we explain why on this podcast. Simply put, you just need to listen to get the whole scoop.

A performance tuner and data monitor that offers flash tuning technolog & data logging. It can tune any fuel injected Harley-Davidson motorcycle with the Delphi ECM. Includes a full color touch screen flash device, built in Auto Tune Basic Mode, vehicle interface cable, and WinPV (Windows PC based tuning application). FYI: NO MAC SUPPORT (Ridiculous). You will need to connect the Power Vision to a PC to download maps, and update software.
This touch screen display DOES NOT require the use of a computer to flash your bike or to use Auto Tune. Just select the tune, follow the on-screen prompts to download the tune, and if you’d like, edit your tune without ever touching a computer.
Autotune Basic comes with the Power Vision. It utilizes the factory narrow-band oxygen sensors that come equipped on your motorcycle.
**Factory narrow-band oxygen sensors will limit the amount of tuning you can do.
AutoTune Pro Accessory Kit: Includes a control module, two wide-band oxygen sensors, cables, and everything needed for installation.
Adding this kit will allow for more precise tuning of your motorcycle. That is accomplished with the wide-band oxygen sensors. Most factory pipes come with 12mm oxygen sensor bungs you will need the 18mm bungs that come with this kit if ordered that way.
**You will have to have these larger 18mm bungs welded into your pipes before proceeding. You may need plugs/caps for the factory 12mm bungs unless the larger bungs are welded into the same exact hole.

The Power Commander V is a basic EFI tuning device that connects to your Engine Control Module (ECM) on your motorcycle. It will need to be connected to a PC to install the basic tuning maps that you can download based on your intake/exhaust set up. These are basic maps that will tune your bike overall, but you will not get any super fine tuning unless you add the Auto Tuner (below).
**No MAC support (Ridiculous). PC only.
This is a great option if you are just putting an aftermarket air intake on and some new headers/exhaust. You can download a basic tuning map form their website and upload it into the Power Commander V and you are on your way. If you ever change pipes or intake you can simply find a new map to download. For the average biker you may need nothing more than this device.
I would suggest the PCV over the basic EFI map that your Harley Dealership will flash your ECM with after you change your air intake or pipes which costs over $200. If you ever change pipes or intake you will be back in the dealership paying them another $200 to do a basic remap of your EFI. With the PCV you will never have to make a map purchase again.
The DynoJet Auto Tune kit is an “add on” accessory that can be used with the Power Commander V.
It connects to the PCV with a single cable and requires only a ground and +12 volt connection to be made to install (Harley models include connector for plugging directly into the bikes’ +12 volt line).
It comes with two O2 sensors, two control modules, CAN connection cables, and custom length sensor cables. It also includes a built in power connector that plugs directly into the bikes’ wiring harness for easy connection.
Once installed, the Auto Tune kit monitors the fuel mixture (by installing the included Wide Band O2 sensor in the exhaust). It then sends this information to the Power Commander V and automatically corrects it while you ride.
For Harley Davidson models it even monitors and adjusts each cylinder individually for increased precision as on these models required fueling can vary significantly between the front and rear cylinder.
For advanced users that would like to change the Air/Fuel ratios from our baseline they are fully adjustable.

Uses your motorcycles factory narrow-band oxygen sensors to auto tune & has an IOS & Android app that you can connect to via bluetooth. It Recalibrates the ECM by Flash Tuning. And with the Fuelpak FP3 module plugged-in, Live Sensor Data can be viewed through your smartphone to display speed, RPM, cylinder head temperature, voltage, gear selection and other vital information.
The FP3 can be installed on many different years and models of Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Connecting wirelessly by Bluetooth to iPhone or Android Smartphones, Fuelpak FP3 uses Flash technology to recalibrate engine parameters and mapping for exhaust systems and other performance upgrades downloaded from the library of calibrations developed by Vance & Hines.
Also standard for the Fuelpak FP3 is an Autotune feature, making use of all factory sensors (narrow-band) to add another layer of precision tuning for specific requirements, whether tuning for unique components or different grades of fuel.

Eric says
will the PCV void my warranty on my 2015 Road glide
Lurch says
Legally, a vehicle manufacturer (let alone a dealer) cannot void a warranty on any vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the specific failure in the vehicle per the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act ( a federal consumer protection law).
