This is an update to our original Sena Freewire Tutorial/Review Video (A must see)
The Sena Freewire, paired with a compatible Sena Bluetooth Headset, can do everything a wired headset can do! 100% Full Harley Boom!™ Box Infotainment System Integration!!
Boom Box/Freewire Voice Commands:
Yes, the Sena Freewire offers 100% full integration with the Harley-Davidson Boom!™ Box Infotainment System & I've tested it extensively for you! You can activate voice commands using the rocker switch on your left Harley control cluster. With the Freewire and your Sena compatible headset, you can give direct voice commands to the Boom Box wirelessly! You can tell the Boom Box to “play” a particular song or album or “tune” to a particular radio station. Or you can say “destination” and give a physical address and the Boom Box will take you there via the integrated GPS system! Yes, the Sena Freewire is the king and offers this functionality with the Boom Box!
You can also use the Harley Boom Box internal intercom system with a passenger if they are also equipped with a Sena compatible headset and a Sena Freewire. You can chat wirelessly now via the intercom! And you can use the CB radio wirelessly with the Freewire too.

Does Sena Freewire Work With Harley Boom Box Voice Commands, CB, Intercom, & Phone Calls?
Sena Freewire Bluetooth Transmitter for Harley-Davidson-Review & Tutorial
Boom Box/Freewire/Phone Calls:
Yes, with your smartphone paired wirelessly with your Boom Box, you can make and accept phone calls going into your Boom Box with your Sena Freewire and Sena compatible headset wirelessly! They sound great! I tested this and it works perfectly.
Important Note:
Make sure you unpair your smartphone with your Sena Headset as it will cause phone call Bluetooth conflicts. Only pair your Sena headset with the Freewire, so they are not fighting over the incoming call so to speak.
If you want to “cut the umbilical cord” and don't want a wire running from your helmet and attached to your motorcycle any longer, in my opinion, the Sena Freewire is the absolute best functioning option out there. I love the Freewire!
There is a cost associated with the Sena Freewire setup of course. You can still use a wired headset solution, which provides all the same functionality, just not wirelessly. If you're looking for a wired Harley Headset here is the only one I recommend and it's great quality.

This sounds awesome! I just need to know if it would pare with uclear Bluetooth an work as well? Maybe you could investigate this… Thanks for the great review
Ryan Urlacher says
It will only pair with a Sena compatible headset.
Donald says
This disappoints me as well… Why not make it compatible with all Bluetooth headsets now you are already half way there!?!
Wolfgang Runge says
Hi Ryan,
this is great stuff after I was disappointed about your first video. Not because of the video but the fact that you cannot do phone calls and voice commands. But obviously everything is working now. This is great news!
But I still have two questions if I can only use either BoomBox or Freewire at the same time:
1) is it possible to select the source for the Freewire? I think I have seen it in your first video. But maybe I want to hear music coming out of my BoomBox while I only want to do phone calls via the headset.
2) would it be possible to do voice commands only via the headset while hearing music and navigation out of BoomBox?
Thanks for your great insights you always giving with your videos!
Best regards, Wolfgang

Ryan Urlacher says
I don’t see a way to do that.

Is Nolan’s N-Com system a compatible Sena Bluetooth Headset?
Does a wired headset on the Harley Boom!™ Box Infotainment System allow one to talk on the phone without using a push to talk button?
Ryan Urlacher says
Check the video out Daniel. I go over that……Here is link to the Freewire with detail and videos. https://shop.lawabidingbiker.com/collections/sena-headsets/products/sena-freewire-bluetooth-transmitter-for-harley-davidson-motorcycles
You can talk on the phone completely free. Don’t need to push to talk.

Hey Ryan your videos are great, here from the land downunder (Australia) i am thinking the boombox system is different to the ones in the US? I can’t see any options on my street glide 2016 for CB or Intercom and i am wondering if this has to do with the fact that the Sena Freewire isn’t working for me in regards to voice commands and answering calls.
Any ideas here?
Ryan Urlacher says
The CB and intercom will only show on the Ultras (full touring) etc that have it….I don’t have CB on my Street Glide….Not sure if this helps or even answers your question.

Hi Ryan,
I’m following you on a regular base here from Switzerland. Your free as well as your tutorial videos on the BB GTS are great! One question: I’m using a Freewire according to your suggestions on my new Electra Limited MJ 2020.Everything works well, except Apple CarPlay. It works fine with the wired headset, however as soon as I connect the Sena Freewire, CarPlay disappears. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help.
Bob
Ryan Urlacher says
No suggestions on that. Not sure why it’s not working.
Leon Simmons says
Ryan – Asked Sena for support with Freewire and Shoie SLR. Basically a 20S fitted to the Shoei Neotec II.
FYI – Here is a copy of their response. (USE WHIM???)
Thank you for contacting Sena Tech Support.
If you have the latest model SGS (2018-2020), the WHIM is the most compatible set-up for it as the Freewire was designed for the previous Boom Box 6.5 GT, hence it’s not fully supported with the newer bike system and the Android Auto/Apple Carplay feature. (GTS)
The Harley Boom 20S/20SEvo works with the WHIM, here’s how the pairing would look like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOLu_jIeE-0.
The regular Sena 20S will just be in mono and with intercom limitations.
Thank you,
Martha
Tech Support Dept.
It would appear that they are supporting Harley vs Rest of the world when it comes to Boombox GTS.
John Weikle says
Will a Pack Talk Bold Bluetooth device work with The Boom! Box GTS?
Matt Couchman says
John,
That is unknown to us. We do know you need a WHIM and HD branded Sena to get full functionality.
