Podcast-In this episode we really break things down in reference to the fatal biker club shooting on January 30, 2016 at the Motorcycle Expo at the National Western Complex in Denver, Colorado. Information is that a member of the Iron Order, a proclaimed law abiding biker club, shot a member of the Mongols MC, a proclaimed 1%er outlaw motorcycle gang (OMG). The evidence & research we have done supports each club's proclamations at this point.
I have already written several articles on this incident with a fair and balanced perspective, unlike the rarely read articles the basement bloggers are releasing. The mainstream media can't report correctly either because they are obviously and likely unknowingly being fed bad information by special interest. Mainstream media will never have an insight into biker clubs and culture like we do.

Listen in as we discuss every detail surrounding the incident and give perspective and insight. There is much to discuss, but unlike basement bloggers who pass judgement with no evidence, we will wait for the facts to present themselves. Staying fair, we take no sides and are patiently awaiting the results of the official investigation.

This is an outstanding broadcast and review of the Iron Order and the Colorado incident, fair and balanced with no spin. Matt Poss was absolutely right on regarding our new club, the Iron Legacy MC and why we founded the club. He is also correct in what he said about the IOMC needing to totally restructure and change what they’re doing. The IOMC voted in new leadership in 2014 that has brought the club to a position it was never meant to be in. All of the original founders and leaders from the founding years of the Iron Order left to found the Iron Legacy to get back to our founding principles and values to preserve the law abiding and good stewards of our communities we were for 10 years rather than be part of what we clearly saw coming. Those new leaders are still in place. They sold the club on “change” like Obama did. The results of that change are in the headlines. The Iron Legacy MC has nothing to do with nor will we have anything to do with the IOMC as they operate today. The IOMC has declared the Iron Legacy MC a hostile club even though the Iron Legacy is not hostile to any club including the IOMC. It is just another change their leaders have determined is a good move to position the IOMC on a different plane than it was founded on. Like ya’ll said on the podcast, the Iron Order MC has a lot of work to do in reorganization and getting new leadership or the club will continue on the road that has brought them to this point. We join ya’ll in wishing the best for the IOMC and hope the good men we left behind can take their club back and bring it to the foundations of righteousness the original founders set down in 2004.

Good on Matt for his perspective. Him and Chewy have a killer grasp on what’s going on here. They understand why the “devil’s advocate” situation isn’t practical. Whether you like it or not, when you enter into the biker community in the US, you operate in an environment that doesn’t fall 100% into the bounds of law. There are a huge majority of bikers who just wabt to get out and ride, meet people, and have a good time with no ill motives whatsoever. However, one has to acknowledge that the other element is real and exists.
I am guessing you (Ryan) just put tbat scenario out there for balance but you answered yourself why they should reconsider flying everywhere. That’s for the same reason you and your Sworn Few don’t fly your colors everywhere. The Iron Order have families and caeers just as precious to them as yours and the ones i know intentionally joined IOMC because it’s specifically NOT a 1% club and therefore should avoid the day to day risks that those who choose that lifestyle experience.
And the point that the lines have been blurred from Law Abiding to somewhere in between couldn’t be more true. Just as Matt said, in the biker world as in the military, perception is reality. And the perception of the Iron Order right now is that they are getting away from a strictly law abiding club. Evidence or no, that’s the perception.
I was also curious, why did your club choose a 3 piece patch rather than a two or one if you can speak about that? Also, how has the MC experience differed in reality from the expectations since it was founded? Would you still fly a 3 piece patch if you had it to do over again? I have always found that choice interesting from all sides whether its 1%, LEO, or plain MCs.

Hey Mr. Christmas…..Hope you are well and getting some riding in! Glad you liked the episode.
*Hard to answer everything, so I gotta keep is a bit short. It was open discussion on the matter, so hopefully all sides on the issues could be spoken about. Time will tell what the actual facts of the incidents are. Of course, we are following along, but it will take time…….
*We don’t get caught up in the 3 piece patch “why” question. Easily stated, because it’s pieces of material and we can. Wouldn’t do a thing different. Live to ride, ride to live.
Jimminy_christmas says
Yeah it’s your club’s business so you definitely don’t have to get into why. But as Chewy said, the 3 piece patch is incredibly important to 1%ers and knowing that makes it seem a bit antagonistic or irreverent in my opinion. Especially when it’s a case of “because we can” with no deeper, personal meaning behind it. But maybe you have your meaning and thats cool.
As a disabled vet I’m staunchly for people exercising their 1st ammendment right to freedom of expression but of course by exercising that right one isn’t necessarily free from criticism, I’m sure you can agree. I’ve seen people wearing ribbons, medals, and ranks i have earned in the military and as long as they don’t receive any advantage or money for it then there’s no official “stolen valor” but it’s still pretty lame to see someone wear something so important to me so casually “because they can.”
Just my two cents here as i think its entirely relevant to the issue at hand of 1%ers (right or wrong) having such an issue with the Iron Order. And good on your guys using common sense when going to dive bars and festivals where there may be other groups. That sets a respectful and positive standard.

Roger that………now get out there and ride brother! That’s what its all about….
Jimminy_christmas says
A few things. I ride everyday, so i dont need you to keep using that as a pivot to end the discussion. Secondly, i take the word brother to mean something pretty special. For example, my brothers from the military are the ones who had my back in a hell hole. My civilian brothers have been there through the best and worst life has to offer. We havent met, we arent brothers.
So im curious why you say get out and ride, thats what it’s all about when im engaging in a short discuassion with you about a 3 hour podcast regarding 2 clubs that have nothing to do with you? I mean, i appreciate the content, i genuinely do, but expect to be addressed when you do such a long cut. If you don’t have an answer to what i have to say, it’s as simple as saying so or not saying anything at all. But enough of this BS about how the ONLY important thing is getting out and riding and rather than responding I should be on my bike. By that logic you shouldn’t have a podcast at all because you’re too busy riding. Let alone a three hour one that took you “hours to prepare for.”
Side note, this took 10 minutes to right while my morning coffee is brewing. I’d like to know if you have anything to address my previous post.

Hey Jimminy, thanks for your service. I’m in a LEMC and we wear the bottom rocker, and as I’ve always said that has never meant a claim on another club’s territory, which is exactly what the outlaw clubs use the rocker to signify. I can’t say why the club chose a 3 patch cut, but I can personally say I like it just for the sake of nostalgia and tradition. Vintage vests I’ve come across have 3 patches, and the bottom rocker isn’t always the club’s location. My club happens to have 3 chapters and the bottom rocker is the way to go for us to separate the chapters.
I know how important it is to 1% clubs, but they don’t have exclusivity. We mind our own business and don’t pick fights. We wear a LE square next to our center patch and never hide who we are, and never had a problem with the local Outlaws or Hells Angels.
Iron Order needs to straighten shit out. Good cops and good bikers don’t want to be associated with bad cops and bad bikers, and the media has a lot to do with that.
Be safe out there.

Thank you guys, great podcast. The media is driving these perceptions about bikers and the police. The media’s only goal is to make money, and the more controversial the better; that’s what sells the papers. Scumbag bikers, crooked cops, guns and drugs all sells papers, and don’t think the media would choose to tell the truth over a chance to make money.

Wow. Blown away by this one as a new listener. As soon as I formed a complaint with the discussion Matt some how addressed it. One of the few times I’ve felt like clicking the donate button. The discussion was professional level most of the time. You disclosed your backgrounds as LEO and military where appropriate and made solid arguments and used the “devils advocate” role appropriately to reinforce your view points.
