Exclusive Harley King Of The Baggers Access! Arizona Trackside!

Harley-Davidson King Of The BaggersI got to spend a day trackside with the Harley-Davidson King Of The Baggers riders and the entire race team in Arizona at the Podium Club Racetrack. This was pre-season and a look behind the scenes of a practice and test day. (see video below)

I was given exclusive access and got to hang out inside the large tent the Harley-Davidson race team had set up for this practice week in Arizona.  Inside the tent were the actual 2023 Harley-Davidson King Of The Bagger race bikes in all their glory! While inside the tent, I got to really walk around and examine these bikes and all their modifications. See my Harley King Of The Baggers Motorcycle Modifications Explained Video.

Harley-Davidson factory rider Kyle Wyman, who rides the #33 bike, and Travis Wyman, who rides the #10 bike, were present and I got to interview and get to know both of them a bit throughout the day. Travis even took me for some hot laps around the Podium Club Racetrack in a 2022 Ford Mustang for a better look and understanding of this track. See the video below for those interviews. 

The Harley Race Team had a rather unique week at the racetrack and unseasonable weather for Arizona. The Podium Club Racetrack is only about a 10-minute drive southwest of Casa Grande, Arizona. It was 32 degrees when we hit the track at around 8:00 am this Wednesday and it only warmed to around 50 degrees. Monday it rained all day, only allowing a few laps for the team late in the day and Tuesday it was extremely windy with very large tumbleweeds blowing across the track, making it too dangerous for laps. 

The night prior to my arrival at the track, it rained extremely hard, leaving the track with standing water and mud across it in places. Because of this, Kyle and Travis had to wait until the afternoon to finally hit the track. Harley-Davidson King Of The Baggers

It was amazing to see how dedicated the entire Harley race team and riders are to this sport. I watched as the Wyman brothers raced their modified Harley baggers around the track and oh what a sound that is. It's literally music to my ears. If you haven't heard it in person, you really need to get to a race. 

After laps, the Wymans would bring their bikes either near or into the tent, where the very dedicated race team would make any changes or modifications to the motorcycle itself or hook it up to a computer for tuning or data acquisition. The entire team works together well and each member has their own duties. 

Also, while I was trackside for the day, Harley-Davidson Manager Of Engineering (Screamin' Eagle) and Race Team Manager, Jason Kehl, told us all about a brand new Harley 135 cubic inch performance crate motor they are releasing for 2023. See my 135 crate motor release video and info here.

Understand, that these 2023 Harley-Davidson King Of The Baggers motorcycles were not completely done and the team was still tweaking them the day I was with them. So, the bikes you see in the video below may look a bit different than when you see them actually hit the racetrack on March 9-11, 2023 at Daytona, for the first race of the 2023 season!

There will be 14 races at 7 locations for the 2023 season. Here is the complete schedule and locations.

Note:  If you have the older 2014-2018 6.5 Boom Box Infotainment unit, you will need to “flash” or “re-program” your Boom!™ Box Infotainment System at a dealership after installation. Flashing the Boom Box will allow it to recognize the new amp and speaker setup along with putting out the proper levels. If you have the newer 2019 to present Boom Box GTS unit then no dealership flash is required.

Save your money and do this project yourself right in your shop or garage right on the kickstand. No fancy motorcycle lifts, jacks, or tools are needed.

The video is very thorough and we show you different options for routing and managing wires. We explain what each component actually does, and armed with this knowledge, the project is a breeze.

Progressive SuspensionGet Progressive Suspension for your Harley Davidson!  We installed the Progressive Suspension Monotube Fork Cartridge Kit on Lurch's 2015 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special. After riding his Harley with the newly installed Progressive front suspension on a 10-day, 4,000-mile road trip, and on many different road surfaces, he highly recommends this suspension and we decided to carry Progressive Suspension right in the Law Abiding Biker Store. 

We also installed the Progressive Suspension 490 Sport Heavy Duty Series Shocks on his 2015 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special.  He also highly recommends these shocks and we decided to carry them right in the Law Abiding Biker Store.

Lurch was not happy with the overall ride of his 2015 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special, which came with the standard front suspension Harley has used for many years now on its touring models, which has no adjustments. Unfortunately, it is what it is.  He wanted a smoother ride, better cornering abilities, and adjustable preload and dampening, all of which the Progressive Suspension Monotube Fork Cartridge Kit has! 

He was also not happy with the standard manually adjustable rear shocks that Harley has used for many years now on its touring models.  He wanted a smoother ride, better cornering abilities, and adjustable preload and dampening, all of which the 13″ Progressive Suspension 490 Sport Heavy Duty Series Shocks have! 

WHY LURCH CHOSE 13″ SHOCKS:

A Harley Street to Road Glide Special comes stock with 12″ shocks and you can certainly maintain the 12″ when choosing your Progressive Suspension rear shocks from the Law Abiding Biker Store.  By installing the 13″ Progressive Suspension rear shocks, Lurch raised the rear of his Road Glide Special 1″ which gives him more of a lean angle. It's definitely noticeable when riding. You really can't visually tell the bike has been raised 1″. Note that Harley models like the Ultra Classic come stock with 13″ shocks. The special models come with 12″ shocks.

Lurch was absolutely blown away at how much smother his Harley rode and cornered after installing Progressive Suspension! He did not realize what a difference good shocks would make! Wow, it was more than he ever expected and he highly recommends upgrading your Harley shocks to Progressive Suspension! It even got rid of most of the bagger wobble while cornering at faster speeds.  His Harley just rode like a completely different bike!

2022 PNW Patron Meet-upLaw Abiding Biker (LAB) Store Manager Big Daddy Kane (BDK) put on a Pacific Northwest meet-up and ride.  Unfortunately, we were unable to do an official LAB meet-up and ride earlier in the summer, like we do every year.  Rick took it upon himself to plan a meet-up and ride, which was much appreciated.  We met at the LAB store in Richland, WA.  Rick opened up the store for yours and hooked Patrons up with some merch/parts.  We had a beautiful ride into Oregon and back to BDK's place for a BBQ.  

The ride was on August 20, 2022.  Members of LAB that attended were BDK (and his wife), Goat, Ryan, Lurch (and his wife), Oscar, Squid, and Sturgis Jeff (and his wife).

BDK settled the long debate dispute of what Charles Wilburn's road name should be.  It jas been a topic in the LAB Patro Member Only FaceBook Group.  BDK presented Charles with a “Dakota” name tab.  He also presented Bob Dawson with a “Picasso” name tag.  Bob operated Dawson's Painting out of Yakima.  He hooked the LAB studio and BDK's garage up with awesome paint jobs.
