Summary
I have ridden thousands of miles now using the HD Boom!™ Box Infotainment System. I absolutely love the Boom!™ Box and couldn't imagine riding without it! There is a learning curve, but with the tutorial videos it becomes very easy and takes all the stress out of it.

I have a 14 Ultra LTD that was an October 13 build bike that I just bought. Looking at the Boom Box tutorial. I see three different ones. Is there one that covers all the boom box, nav, etc updates?

Joe:There is the touch screen Boom Box (6.5GT) and the smaller non-touch screen model (4.3). They work exactly the same except on the 4.3 you can’t touch the screen and have to use the soft buttons along the side. On both you can use the control sticks located on the control clusters on both handlebars. So, yes the video will teach you how no matter which one you have. Ride safe!

Do I see three different tutorials or is there one that covers everything?
I just went on my first long trip and the boombox gps only gave me a few of the major road direction I needed along the way…most of the turns I needed to make didn’t ever pop up. This was a simple point a to point b trip…does your video tell me how to fix this problem?
There is a virus in the Boom Box system right now. Harley is working on it. Hopefully in a future update problems like that will be fixed. The only video I have to help is how to update your Boom Box Software; https://www.lawabidingbiker.com/boomboxsoftware.
Make sure to update your software regularly to take care problems. It is just like updating a smartphone routinely. Harley will fix bugs and problems.

Are you aware of any problems with the speed sensitive sound? I have a 2015 CVO Street Glide Ultra and it does not seem to be working. I have taken it to two different dealers one down loaded the newest software and said it was fixed. If it is I can’t tell the difference. I also had another dealer look at it and he told me it was because I had it set on setting 4. I tried 3, 2 and 1 and it still does not appear to work.
I have this feature on my 2008 Ultra Classic and I can hear it working on that bike surely it would work at least as good on the 2015.
Stan, I have not had that problem nor any other reports. It sounds very specific to your unit. Sorry for that brother.

Screen locked up during update of 6.5 radio. Screen walked me through update process and it started the update. Screen now says to insert USB which I have already done. Now can’t get that display off screen or get it to shut down with acc turned off. 1.18.3 update. I’ve updated system three times without any problems until now.
That is very unfortunate. I am getting those preliminary reports from people along with other issues. As usual, I encourage everyone to just hold off on the update and let me test it for you. I will then either recommend or not recommend bikers to update. You may need to get your boombox into a “factory reset” mode. My next suggestion if that doesn’t work would be to disconnect the battery for a while and then reconnect to see if it resets.
I had to remove the main fuse (red) on the left side of the bike to make the screen cut off. Inserted same fuse and then I was good until radio came back up with the screen showing to insert the USB again. The Dealer in Maryville TN advised to do this to keep it from draining the battery overnight. I’ve had to pull the fuse and leave it out until I can get it to the dealer. I’ve had numerous issues with the radio and if I could replace it with a another brand that fit I would. This update has cause a major failure of the system.
There are other reported “lame duck” units out there. Your dealership should immediately replace the entire unit. I know that is easier said than done. Hopefully you have a good relationship with them. Those are strange issues you are reporting and very unique. I am getting other reports of misc issues with the update, but out of all of them yours is the only one that had that issue. Good luck brother

Big 6.5″ screen, plus the integrated satellite radio flows into an equalizer that pumps out big sound. This is found on Harley site, owner file. My question is, does it mean that satellite radio is included in the premium radio?

Hello. I have a 2014 FLHTCU with the Boom Nav radio. Love it. Don’t love how the nav interrupts my music though especially after I’ve turned the prompts off.
Is there a way to turn off the nav prompts completely so they don’t arbitrarily turn on by themselves later. Thanks!

There are tons of issues with the Boom!™ Box system right now. It has many bugs and viruses. Unfortunately, if that is all your experiencing right now, feel lucky. There are an array of issues Harley Davidson and Harman Kardon are working feverishly to get rid of.
With that said, the only way to fix these issues it to make certain you are running the latest software at all times on your Boom!™ Box system. Just like a smartphone or computer, this system needs to be up to date. With these continuous updates will come fixes to the issues.

I’ve purchased all your Boombox tutorials. Thanks man! One of the major flaws you talk about in the video is HK’s not making the Nav system so that it does not save ‘rides’ (not trips) each time we get on the bike and ride. This is a bummer since friends often take me to new places and new routes that I want to capture and have for myself or to share them. You say this cannot be done.
I am yet to actually get my new bike out (winter here in Toronto) to test the Boombox totally but in reading the manual there is a section on TRAILS. In your video you skip over it, why?
From what I read if I turn on Record Trail, it will capture any specific path I travel and save it so it can be downloaded and shared later.

It will record, but it will stop when you turn the bike off. So, if your on a long day ride and stop for gas, food etc. You’ll have to record the second or third leg and break the rides up. I have a 2018 CVO Ultra limited Anniversary bike and never have used the download option in navigation of GPX routes and while trying to do so today I got this “Import incomplete Nav database full: 1 item NOT stored. There is NOTHING already downloaded on this bike. Also I went to update by info system update and get the NO option however I don’t get the highlighted YES option to download allowing me to upload the new update. Help, Thank You
Have your dealership handle that matter under warranty. May be a defective unit. We have seen defective units.
I have a 2017 freewheer I added a garment zumo gps which works fine I added a boom audio system for the sound. I have so much trouble with hooking my pandora or I touch iPad. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. I have purchased your videos and need help.
