At this juncture, it's evident to me that Harley has taken heed of the missteps associated with the older Boom Box Infotainment System. The tighter reins exercised by engineers over the new IFCU suggest a more meticulous approach. While conversing with engineers and Harley representatives firsthand, it became apparent that although they didn't single-handedly develop the entire operating system, known as Skyline OS, they exerted greater influence and oversight during its development.

The most pressing question on many minds, one that I'm unable to fully address at this juncture, is how the IFCU will fare in the long run—say, 5 or even 10 years down the road. After all, my previous Harley Street Glide Special served me faithfully for a decade before I upgraded to my 2024 model.
Concerns naturally arise regarding the long-term support Harley will provide for the Harley infotainment control unit. Will the system gradually slow down and experience lag over time? And if so, how will such issues be addressed by customer support? Additionally, the longevity of support from the third-party company responsible for developing the Skyline OS operating system is another pertinent consideration.
Ultimately, only time will provide the answers we seek. First, I would like to say your tutorials have helped me numerous times over the years, so thank you.
I came across this article after I had already completed the update. Maybe I was just lucky, I just used two Type A USBs (one 3.0 16GB, one 3.1 128GB) with an A to C adapter without issue. I could see an A to C cable possibly being a point of failure due to the cable specs/condition, but with the current transfer rates of USB 3.0/3.1, using an adapter should be no cause for concern.
Also, I couldn’t agree more about the now archaic update process, considering Wi-Fi’s convenience/superior throughput speeds.
