Video-In this completely free video, we show you how to easily install new replacement shift linkage on your Harley-Davidson motorcycle. We also show you how to remove your old linkage. The stock Harley shift linkage can often fail and leave you stranded. You need to get good quality shift linkage that uses sturdy & reliable heim joints. We used Kuryakyn shift linkage in this video.

Mine broke at 50k on my 2005 FLHR. I was loaded and packing double on PCH in California. Icould not get off the highway but was able to limp to Santa Maria HD. Bought a new custom HD one with hiem joints and installed it in the parking lot. What a difference. I did not realize how much slop was in the old warn out one. My trany felt like new. Shifted much better. I would replace this on a brand new bike as soon as I got it home.

I’m kinda confused. My 2020 heritage114 appears to have a heim joint installed from the factory. Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

My linkage broke at about 50k miles. limped into Santa Maria Harley and purchased a new fancy heim joint linkage. ($90.00) Did not realize how worn the old one was. Made my transmission shift like new. Shifts were crisper and neutral easy to find. It’s one of the first things I would replace if I bought a new bike.
