FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Will this video work for my year & model Harley?
It is fair to say this video is good for any model Harley 2000 to present. It is likely also good for late 90's models.
Our main goal is to help bikers & we are not satisfied until we have done such.
This heated grip video is continually updated with new high definition footage of different years/models of Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Any heated grips video purchasers, present, past, or future, will get immediate free access to the new video files. That is our commitment to the biker community & it is what makes our videos stand above all others!
It is impossible to film a heated grip install on every year and model of Harley-Davidson & there's no need to. Harley heated grip kits are universal in nature and have not really changed dating all the way back to 2000 from our experience. aThe install itself is universal in nature and the only thing that has changed between years/models is exactly where it is recommended you tie into a power source. That's the only thing you'll have to glance at those nasty instructions for.
You will be provided with multiple video files showing different years/models and the power tie in process variations. You will quickly determine the minor differences, which will not change the overall heated grip install.
We trust the biker community and if you purchase this video and it absolutely is not what you need for a heated grips install on your particular year or model, please kindly contact us and we will issue a full refund.

What Bikers are Saying!
Here is what biker Donald Meitz says after viewing this video:
Heated grips installed. Before I watched your video, I was more than confused with the factory instructions. After I watched your video, the install couldn’t have been any easier. Thanks alot!
Here is what biker Andy Havener of Fort Worth, TX says after viewing this video:
I just bought your video on the heated grip install and it is worth every penny! Although your video is on a 2014, my bike is a 2013 FLHTCU, but many things are the same. Thanks again and I will be watching you in the future.
DETAILS:
Harley-Davidson brand heated grips on all 2000 and newer Harley-Davidson models.
These Harley heated grip kits come with horrible and confusing instructions. SAVE YOUR MONEY, there is no need to take your Harley-Davidson motorcycle to the dealership to get heated grips installed. Plus, have the pure satisfaction of working on your own Harley.
In this detailed video, you will see diagrams I created so you can fully understand how the heated grips work, are powered, the wire is routed, and why you are connecting wires a certain way.
From our experience, Harley-Davidson has not changed the heated grip kits dating back to 2000. The heated grip kits are very universal in nature. So, the install itself is universal and the only thing that has changed between years/models is exactly where it is recommended you tie into a power source. That's the only thing you'll have to glance at those nasty instructions for.
You will be provided with multiple video files showing different years/models and the power tie in variations. You will quickly determine the minor differences, which will not change the overall heated grip install.
We are constantly updating and filming new bikes in regards to heated grip installs. Any heated grips video purchasers, present, past, or future, will get immediate free access to all new video files.
We get the best of angles for you in high-definition and it's like your right there wrenching with us!
FURTHER INFORMATION:
There is the primary tutorial for installing Harley-Davidson heated grips on 2000-2023 models, as well as select 2024 motorcycles. In 2024, Harley introduced the Street Glide and Road Glide with a completely redesigned fairing, marking significant changes to these models. However, the rest of the touring bikes with fairings remained unchanged, making 2024 a transition year for Harley-Davidson.
There are two main installation videos available—After purchase, simply choose the one that matches your bike. If your model has the older fairing, use the first video. For those with the newly redesigned fairing, the second video is the correct one for your installation.
NOTE: As Harley transitions their line of motorcycles to newer technology, models without a fairing will eventually be using the new 2024 style Harley heated grips, which have one wire with a plug coming out of the end as seen in our 2024 and newer install video file. If you don't have a fairing model, watch both video files after purchase and choose which will work best for your application.
I guarantee you won't find a more thorough Harley heated grips install video anywhere!

Your very welcome Mark and thanks for taking the time to comment.
Rick says
Good video. Just installed them on my 2014 SGS. Start to finish it took about five hours (and that was with several interruptions from the wife), The only bad thing is that I also had to take out the Boom Box, but I am thinking that anybody with a 2014 or newer is going to run into that problem.
Ryan Urlacher says
That is great Rick! Thanks for the feedback and for taking the time. Glad the video got er done for you.
I love to hear when guys get hooked up with heated grips. They are such a great addition.
We had to take out the entire Boom Box on my 2014 too. We showed that in the video.
David says
Ryan, I wanted to let you know I got the heated grip video a while back and debated on doing it my self or letting the dealer do it. Well when they gave me a price of $275 to install that sealed it and I did it my self oh they also said they were giving me a break on the price. I took my time and it only took me about 3 hours. They1 thing that threw me that I did not see in the video was the left grip has a notched area where you have to align the grip and the switch pack cover other than that it was a simple project. I have a 15 FLHXS and it is the same color as yours so it is like watching you work on my bike. My next project is changing the exhaust within the next couple of weeks and adding digital gauges.
Lurch says
David. On behalf of Ryan and the rest of the LAB crew, we’re pleased the video helped you install your heated grips and save some money. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. Have fun installing the exhaust and gauges. Send us some pics when you are done.

Devil Dog,
Will you be putting on new heated grips or just regular grips?

Rich says
I have a ’17 Road King. Will this video still apply for heated grip installation or is an updated version needing to come out?
Matt Couchman says
Rich,
It should work for you. The basic principal is the same no matter what year. With that said we hope to do a set on a “17 in the near future.

Howard Pincus says
Just bought a 2016 Road Glide Special and ordered the black grips, kit 5610034. Still not clear if I need the connection kit 69200722. Harley says I need it.
Thanks Ryan
Matt Couchman says
Howard,
it is one way to connect and the way HD recommends.
~Lurch
Howard Pincus says
Thanks Lurch. Just to clarify for myself. Does your heated grip video include instructions specifically for a 2016 Road Glide Special?
Matt Couchman says
Howard,
Not specifically, but it’s the same. The only difference is the fairing. We added extra files for the road glide. Watch the video prior to install. We’ll refund your purchase is you don’t think the video will work for you.
~Lurch
Howard Stumpf says
Bought video and your diagram made it easy to put these grips on. However, how does one get that little two wire plug into the right-hand grip? Harley makes it almost impossible to do. The video does not show you all getting this plug into the grip. Mine finally broke when trying to use needle nose pliers. I re-soldered the pins into the little wires and put each little wire into their perspective holes, put a plug of styrofoam in the grip to hold the wires in and it works great!!!
Matt Couchman says
Howard,
We used needle nose pliers as well.

Just wondering if this video would help me on my 2011 electra glide ultra classic and also wondering the price??
Ryan Urlacher says
Certainly would help. Tons of bikers use it for those years around the world. Here is a direct link to get the video ==> https://gumroad.com/l/harleyheatedgrips
Ritchie Jensen says
I have a 2001 road king that I want to install Harley Davidson heated grips on. Will this video help with this year of bike?
Matt Couchman says
Ritchie,
We have a fairing version and a non fairing version. The non fairing version was on a 2011 Road king. Installation is essentially the same on all bikes. The difference is where and how you tap into constant power, switched power, and ground. I think the video will work for you. Buy it, watch it, and decide if it will work for you. I’ll gladly refund your money if your don’t think it will help you. We’re all about bikers helping other bikers. Making money comes second.

I am looking at changing my stock heated grips on my 2013 Ultra Classic Limited with the Willie G heated grips, is this video good for my 2013 ?
Ryan Urlacher says
Heated grip installs are universal and have been since around 2000. The universal kits and procedures have not changed. The only thing that changes over the years is where to tie into power. Rock on

Hello – my wife has a 2019 Sportster 1200XL Custom and I would like to install the Contoured Chrome and Rubber Heated Hand Grips: Part Number 56100268
Steve says
Does this cover the 2018 and newer Softtail fat bob 114? Seems they made a lot of changes and I am not exactly clear how to get into that electrical shroud.
Matt Couchman says
Steve,
The bikes used in our heated grips videos are touring bikes. While the basics are the same, where you access the plugs are different. Our video will get you most of the way there, but won’t show you where to plug in.

Hi Guys,
Got a 2014 Ultra Limited with stock heated grips. I have purchased the Harley Chrome & Rubber heated grips. As you stated, the instructions suck. Will this video show how to integrate these grips to the factory wiring?
Matt Couchman says
Mike,
The video shows you how to hook them up according to HD. It should be more than adequate for switching out grips.

Jason Timm says
I bought this video quite a while back. I book marketed this page, thinking I could come back to use it again. I used it on a new street glide that I bought and it was VERY helpful at the time. Now I bought a 21 RG and a 21 TG and I want to upgrade the heated grips. Really need this video again. I can purchase it again if needed, but is there a way for me to get to the link again from my last purchase?
Matt Couchman says

Hi, I have an Electra Glide Ultra Limited with 6,000 miles (recently purchased) and both grips do not work. I did find the two pins on the right grip end bent and broke (snapped) trying to straighten.
I shall assume if one grip doesn’t work, either will the other? So….before I stream your video, I will need to buy replacement grips. So many forums etc offer horrifying reviews/comments and short life spans on grips. I will want to use internal wiring (OEM) for simplification. Can you please recommend a grip or two. Thanks
