VIDEO & BLOG-As I have stated, Harley Davidson put the cart before the horse a bit on the Boom Box for the Rushmore Project and is playing catch up now. The system is awesome, but has several issues. I truly believe these issues will be corrected in time with the ongoing routine software updates. Fresh out is the newest Boom!™ Box system software version and everyone needs to update.

There have been many bugs, hiccups, and a rumored (hush, hush) virus in the Boom!™ Box System that Harley Davidson has not commented on (Hmmm?). See no evil, hear no evil-right? The Boom!™ Box Infotainment System comes standard now on the new 2014 Project Rushmore touring Harley Davidson models. It is also coming standard on the new Harley Davidson 2015 models. There is the 4.3 (non-touch screen) version and the 6.5 touchscreen version.

VIDEO & BLOG-A huge amount of Law Abiding Bikers/Motorcyclists and Harley Davidson owners, and the general public for that matter, wisely use a MAC instead of a PC. MAC is all many people now have in their homes and businesses for good reasons.

I wrote a blog back on October 16, 2013 and at that time there was absolutely no MAC support for the Harley Davidson Boom!™ Box Infotainment System. I had to use my brother's clunky PC to Harley Boom Box
download the software updates for my Boom Box system, which are becoming routine now.
Well, I am happy to say that Harley Davidson finally got on board and now supports the MAC platform for the routine software updates. Of course they do not state this on the Boom Box portion of their website and have announced it to nobody. Why, I am not sure, but I tested it recently and it worked great for the Boom Box 1.18.1 software update. To learn how to update the system software see the video links at the bottom of this post.

As I have stated, Harley Davidson put the cart before the horse a bit on the Boom Box  for the Rushmore Project and is playing catch up now. The system is awesome, but has several issues. I truly believe these issues will be corrected in time with the ongoing software updates.

Remember, the Boom Box is just a computer and needs routine software and map updates just like your smartphone or computer. They are constantly improving the way the system operates and fixing bugs, so this is critical.

Law Abiding Biker Safe on Red Laws PodcastPODCAST-Ever been stuck at a traffic light that takes an excruciating amount of time — what feels like hours — to turn green? Imagine that as a daily occurrence. That is what it’s like for some motorcyclists/bikers due to sensors at some intersections that don’t recognize when lightweight vehicles arrive. During the last legislative session, a new section was added to Chapter 46.61 RCW in Washington State that allows the operator of a street legal motorcycle to make a left turn, after stopping at an intersection that is controlled by a triggered traffic control signal, if the device fails to operate after one cycle of the traffic signal. Other states have had laws for some time and they are often referred to as “Safe on Red Laws”.

Safe-on-red laws vary by state on how they address the issue, but they all include basic instructions on how one can legally run a red light. In general, the guidelines say motorcyclists must wait at the light for a predetermined amount of time and then only proceeding through the intersection if it’s free of cross traffic or pedestrians.

VIDEO-Harley Davidson Boom!™ Box GPS “Record” Trip Function Lacking | Motorcycle Podcast

Boom Box GPS Trip “Record” Function:

Many have asked about the trip “record” function, which is located if you go to the main menu->Navigation->Map. Once viewing the GPS map and you location toggle over to the lower right of your screen where you will see the main Map menu icon. PODCAST-In this biker/motorcycle podcast episode we talk about the Sworn Few Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club (LEMC) patching in their newest chapter from Wenatchee, WA called the “Big River” Chapter. This was an epic event and we walk you through it and share some of the surprises we had for the patching in ceremonies.  It should be a very important and memorable event, as these guys worked long and hard to make it into the ranks of the SFMC.  Nothing came easy and everything was earned.  Stay tuned for future Law Abiding Biker Episodes when we actually have members of the Big River Chapter in the studio and go over the processes that they had to go through and what their opinions are.  Did the Mother Chapter of the Sworn Few Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club (SFMC) do a a good job?  Should we change things for future prospective chapters?  You'll have to wait and see.
