Beware of Harley WHIM Headset Module Firmware Update! Missing Boom Box Configuration Menu!

Missing “config” tab and “status”

Since updating my Harley-Davidson Wireless Headset Interface Module “WHIM” to the latest version 1.1.4 firmware I have been having problems. My Harley stamped Sena 30k mesh & 20s wireless Bluetooth headsets will pair & I can hear music, however, the status and configuration menu tab in the Harley Boom Box menu are missing along with other audio settings. How Wireless Headset Screen Should Look

Also, after updating the Harley WHM firmware, each time I go into the Boom Box wireless headset menu it shows it’s disabled and I have to enable it again. After much testing, I decided to revert to an older WHIM firmware update, version 1.0.2, and it immediately fixed the problem on two separate WHIM modules I was testing. Clearly, version 1.1.4 is corrupt and can break your Harley WHIM. I really hope this helps many in the biker community diagnose and fix this issue.

This process may or may not work for you and any testing or reverting of firmware is at your own risk.

Motorcycle Lane Splitting is for Fools?

In the below video, I talk about the fact that motorcycle lane splitting or lane filtering may be legalized and coming to your state in 2019? California is still the only state where motorcycle lane splitting is legal and many other states are watching closely. Unfortunately, lane splitting has become a rather controversial topic. Mostly, by those that don't understand the many benefits of motorcycle lane splitting & don't ride motorcycles themselves.

The following states are in different stages of possibly legalizing motorcycle lane splitting:

Maryland, Connecticut, Utah, Oregon, Texas, and Hawaii. If legalized, each state has its own ideas and rules on how motorcycle lane splitting can be done. Examples are, whether it can only be done when traffic is stopped and at what speeds you can actually do it.

Video-Winter Sucks for Riding-Storm Warnings & High Winds-Vlog

Winter hit us hard suddenly here in Eastern Washington State. We have had near zero temps, snow, and wind gusts up to 50mph. These are not the best conditions for riding motorcycles. This is just a quick vlog of what's going on. I'm shoveling snow like a madman to try and get rid of the snow drifts in front of the Law Abiding Biker Shop and Studio so when things thaw we can get the bikes out and ride! We're still producing podcast and videos here for the biker community, regardless of the snow and weather situation.

Testing New Lithium-Ion Battery For My Harley? Too Expensive?

I was in the Law Abiding Biker Garage testing & installing a new lithium-ion battery for my Harley Davidson motorcycle. I’ve tested other brand lithium-ion motorcycle batteries but wanted to test a new brand for the biker community. My old lead-acid battery went bad in two years, which sucks. Although lithium-ion batteries for motorcycles cost more, they have many benefits over lead-acid batteries.

Review-2019 Harley-Davidson Boom Box GTS Infotainments System | Must Know Info

In late August 2018 Harley-Davidson released a new version of their Infotainment System they're calling the Harley Boom Box GTS. This system was preceded by the old Boom Box 4.3 and 6.5 systems, which have been around since their release in 2014 on project Rushmore models. (see my very popular review video at the bottom of this article)

I tested the new Harley Boom Box GTS Infotainment System thoroughly so that I could relate to you what it can and can’t do. The new Boom Box GTS has Apple Car Play, but not Android Auto. The only way to get Apple Car Play to appear on the system is to purchase and install a Harley Wireless Headset Interface Module (WHIM), which will allow you to pair a Harley branded Sena 20s EVO wireless Bluetooth headset with the Boom Box GTS. You’ll need to purchase and pair the Harley branded 20s headset and then make sure your iPhone is plugged into the Boom Box and then Apple CarPlay will appear and function.

The entire screen on the new Harley Boom Box GTS is now touchscreen and all physical buttons are gone. Everything on the new Harley Boom Box operates like you’d expect on a smartphone, such as pinch to zoom and scrolling with your fingers. And yes, this includes the GPS maps and navigation.

Harley says that the touchscreen is just as responsive even while using it with motorcycle riding gloves. It also has a more detailed screen and better contrast for viewing on those bright days.

Although the new 2019 Harley Boom Box GTS has many improvements over its predecessor, it still has many nuances and has a definite learning curve. There are some things that are a bit hidden and not obvious to a standard user. There were also bugs when we were trying to pair a Harley Sena 20s headset to the Boom Box GTS and it kept failing, but after four tries it finally worked. Bugs and issues are the legacies of the older Boom Box 4.3 and 6.5 versions, so I really hope this is not a clue on what’s to come.

New 2019 Harley-Davidson Models-First Look-Serious Failure? Boom Box GTS? FXDR 114?

I am reviewing the new 2019 Harley-Davidson models. Harley-Davidson released its new 2019 line-up of motorcycles on August 21, 2018, in San Diego, CA. (see review video below).

Check out the new Softail FXDR 114 as it's a brand new innovative performance bike by Harley & I'm super excited about it. Some Harley touring bikes such as the Street Glide Special, Road Glide Special, and the Road King special now get the Milwaukee-Eight 114 CI motor and are blacked out instead of chrome.

On the new 2019 Harley-Davidson models, there is finally an upgrade to the Harley Boom Box Infotainment System for 2019 models. It's called the Boom Box GTS and it looks like a much better user interface than the previous version. The entire Boom Box GTS unit is touchscreen and it has Apple Car Play! Finally Harley, about time! The new Boom Box GTS does not and will not have Android Auto. You also must have your iPhone plugged in via lightning cable to utilize Apple Car Play. We'll have to see if this Harley Boom Box works any better than the older version on 2014-2018 models.

There are also 3 Harley CVO models that are sure to catch your attention.

Although I really support Harley-Davidson, I'm not afraid to give my opinion about how they are failing at connecting with their actual core customers. They really need to change the way they are marketing and get back on track with their real brand loyal customers.
